Public Access Guidelines for the Law Library

These guidelines outline the procedures for accessing the resources of the Public Law Library. We aim to provide a secure and accessible environment for all users while ensuring the preservation and safety of this valuable collection.

Procedure for Access:

  1. Identification Requirement: All individuals seeking access to the Law Library must present a valid form of identification upon entry.

    • Acceptable forms of identification include:
      • Driver's license
      • State-issued identification card
      • Passport
      • Student identification card
      • Other government-issued photo identification
      • So that you know, IDs will be held pending your leaving the space.
  2. Verification: Library staff at the designated entry point will review the presented identification to confirm the individual's identity.

  3. Access Granted: Upon successful identification verification, individuals will be granted access to the Law Library premises.

Purpose of this Procedure:

This identification procedure has been implemented for the following reasons:

  • Resource Security: The Law Library houses a collection of valuable reference materials unavailable for checkout. This procedure helps ensure these resources remain within the library for the benefit of all users.
  • Maintaining a Secure Environment: Requiring identification contributes to a safer and more secure environment for library users and staff.

  • Reference Materials Only: Please remember that all materials within the Law Library are for reference use only and cannot be checked out.
  • Staff Assistance: Should you require any assistance during your visit, please do not hesitate to approach our public service staff adjacent to the law library. They are available to help you locate resources and answer your questions.
  • Consistency: We are committed to ensuring consistency when applying these guidelines. We regularly review our procedures with all public service staff.
