The Nancy Guinn Memorial Library and the Rockdale County Chapter of the NAACP will host local genealogy expert Devra Harney as part of the library’s “Local Voices” program series on Wednesday, February 15th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Harney will present her ancestry in a compelling way to encourage others in their search for their heritages. Harney will also provide research tips and answer questions. Light refreshments will be served.
“Local Voices” is part of an $11,000 Common Heritage Grant — funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. This grant will support a series of programs that will enable the library to record and preserve Rockdale County’s rich African American heritage. “Local Voices” with Devra Harney is part of the library’s Black History Month celebrations throughout the month of February.
